Women Who Run With The Wolves | Clarissa Pinkola Estés (Unfinished)

There’s a part about not using your intuition and how by not using it you disconnect it from yourself – you sever a bond between yourself – you numb part of yourself. I think of my relationship with Trent. My intuition told me very early on that he wasn’t treating me right and that something wasn’t right. But I ignored it. I pushed it down, I became numb to that connection and live of myself… And it makes so much sense, because I didn’t practice using it or strengthen that connection, I made decisions based on logic and based on others’ opinions. That exacerbated why I felt so lost and confused and depressed throughout that time. I lost the connection to myself. I didn’t listen so I could rely on it to guide me in the right directions. I gave myself away in a respect. God, he really fucked me up. That’s on me but he didn’t need to keep me strung up in his bullshit for four years – wasting that time in my life, creating a bigger and bigger gap between myself and my intuition… I regret letting him into my life.

“A starved soul can become so filled with pain, a woman can no longer bear it. Because women have a soul-need to express themselves in their own soulful ways, the must develop and blossom in ways that are sensible to them and without molestation from others.”

“…to see into or through something requires intuition and also the strength to stand upon what one sees.”

“Women’s cycles according to Vasalisa’s tasks are these: To cleanse one’s thinking, renewing one’s values, on a regular basis. To clear one’s psyche of trivia, sweep one’s self, clean up one’s thinking and feeling states on a regular basis. To build an enduring fire beneath the creative life, and cook up ideas on a systematic basis, means especially to cook, and with originality, a lot of unprecedented life in order to feed the relationship between oneself and the wildish nature.”

“The shooing of the soul to its home, that is our work. The releasing of a shower of sparks to fill the day, and creating a light so we can find our way through the night, that is our work.”

“Some things must be accepted as being out of our reach, even though they act upon us, and we are enriched by them… Some things are God’s business.”

— we are to accept the known and unknown for what they are and trust that the reasons for everything will be revealed to us when it is necessary

“A lover has to be chosen from soul-craving.”
